Sara Fox: ISC Speaking Engagement at The 2024 Land and Water Summit

This presentation is a pivotal part of a larger three-day summit (The 2024 Land and Water Summit).  Sara will delve into the current status of the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission’s implementation of the Water Security Planning Act.

The Water Security Planning Act is New Mexico’s guiding legislation for regional water planning and management, securing a resilient water future. New Mexico will need to continue finding ways to adapt and sustain in the face of water shortages and a changing climate. The Water Security Planning Act, passed in 2023, marks a new era in water planning in New Mexico. It creates a roadmap for regionalized water planning and implementation that prioritizes the unique needs of local communities, makes use of the best available science and data, and maintains compliance with federal and state laws. This presentation provides an update on where the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission is at with regard to the implementation of the Water Security Planning Act.
